Overview
For synchronization of estrus in sexually mature gilts that have had at least one estrus cycle. Treatment with altrenogest solution 0.22% results in estrus (standing heat) 4-9 days after completion of the 14 day treatment period. On most swine farms, productivity of the entire system is based on a consistent, predictable flow of uniform pigs from farrowing unit to finisher. Variability in breeding and farrowing schedules, especially with gilts, results in greater variability in pig size/age, inconsistent pig flows and inefficiencies throughout the entire system.
Maintaining consistent gilt productivity through tight farrowing schedules is key to reducing facility and overhead costs and maximizing overall profitability. ChronoMate facilitates synchronization of estrus in sexually mature gilts that have had at least one estrus cycle, allowing sow farm managers to more accurately control the critical breeding and farrowing schedule for gilts, which maximizes the flow of uniform pigs throughout the system.
- Tighter breeding and farrowing schedules for gilts, meaning fewer missed heat cycles compared to traditional visual monitoring and detection.
- Increased female productivity - synchronized breeding helps reduce scheduled farrowing variability of mated gilts and maximizes the number of lifetime litters for each breeding animal. It also provides more consistent farrowings per week and more weaned pigs per week flowing into the system.
- Reduced labor - reduces manpower needed for heat checking and weekend breeding and farrowing.Contains 0.22% altrenogest solution (2.2 mg/ml).
Dosage: Administer 6.8 ml per gilt once daily for 14 consecutive days on an individual animal basis by top-dressing on a portion of daily feed allowance. To produce desired synchronization of estrus in a group of gilts, treat all gilts daily for same 14 day period. Do not use in gilts having a previous or current history of uterine inflammation. 21 day slaughter withdrawal.
Important notes: Wear vinyl, neoprene or nitrile protective gloves when handling; do not use latex gloves. Pregnant women or women who suspect they are pregnant should not handle.
