Peach Teats

THE SECRET TO SUCCESSFUL CALF REARING IS NO SECRET AT ALL…Calves Love Peach Teats!
Peach Teats calves are healthier and happier!
The “Peach Teats” idea originated in 1993 when dairy farmer Robert McIntyre thought there had to be a better way to feed his calves than the hard rubber, industry-standard calf feeding teat. He believed if a teat could be created that worked just like a real cow’s teat then calves would feed more naturally and gain weight faster, plus it would help eliminate mouth ulcers caused by the hard rubber teats.
Early designs of Peach Teats, the internal valve and the precise positioning of the two milk openings on the teat, were conceived with various materials in a bathtub. Robert’s first “factory” was in a shed on his dairy farm in Hunterville, New Zealand. The conditions were a bit primitive but this small start gave him the experience to develop the teat further. Sales grew steadily, until Peach Teats became the best-selling calf feeding teat in New Zealand.
In 1996 an arrangement between Skellerup Industries, a leading manufacturer of quality dairy rubber, and Peach Teats enabled the production numbers to increase when the manufacturing of the teats moved to the New Zealand Skellerup factory. In 2000 a urethane was formulated specially for the Peach Teats valve to make it as close as technically possible to a real calf’s teat. They are manufactured from a natural rubber specially developed to meet the needs of calf rearers, ensuring Peach Teats feel natural and comfortable to the calf and help eliminate mouth ulcers.
