Overview

Low-dose, rapidly absorbed, long-acting sulfonamide. Effective in the treatment of shipping fever complex and bacterial pneumonia associated with Pasteurella spp. sensitive to sulfadimethoxine; and footrot and calf diphtheria associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum sensitive to sulfadimethoxine in beef and dairy cattle, including lactating dairy cows. Low dose provides rapid, sustained blood levels at higher levels than most other long-acting sulfonamides.

Each bolus contains either 5 grams or 15 grams sulfadimethoxine.

Animals should receive an initial dose of 25 mg/lb of body weight followed by subsequent daily doses of 12.5 mg/lb of body weight.

5 gram bolus - dosage for body weight:
200 lbs - 1 bolus 1st day; 1/2 bolus daily for following 3-4 days
300 lbs - 1-1/2 boluses 1st day; 1 bolus daily for following 3-4 days
400 lbs - 2 boluses 1st day; 1 bolus daily for following 3-4 days
500 lbs - 2-1/2 boluses 1st day; 1-1/2 boluses daily for following 3-4 days
600 lbs - 3 boluses 1st day; 1-1/2 boluses daily for following 3-4 days

15 gram bolus - dosage for body weight:
600 lbs - 1 bolus 1st day; 1/2 bolus daily for following 3-4 days
800 lbs - 1-1/2 boluses 1st day; 1 bolus daily for following 3-4 days
1,000-1,200 lbs - 2 boluses 1st day; 1 bolus daily for following 3-4 days

In most cases, treatment for 3-4 days is adequate. Treatment should not be continued beyond 5 days.

60 hour milk withdrawal; 7 day slaughter withdrawal. A withdrawal period has not been established in pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal. For 5 gm bolus, use with Medium, Green Plastic Balling Gun (sold separately). For 15 gm bolus, use with Large, Red Plastic Balling Gun (sold separately)..
