Just down the road, a certain road, is the friend, relative or special acquaintance you've been hoping to hear from. A hand written note, with a caring message, tucked into a distinctive envelope, sealed and stamped with a heartfelt touch. Nestled between the junk mail and bills, life is good when you get the mail and there's a special card in it for you! Rural American artist Bonnie Mohr has created a card just like this, just for you, ideal for any occasion.
For Bonnie Mohr, life is about the country, the people who nurture it and the animals who dwell in it. From her second floor farmhouse studio, each oil painting captures the essence of rural life with all its quiet pleasures and rich rewards. Mohr especially loves cows – grazing, eating, snorting, stomping or smiling (because cows do smile). She has gained international recognition for her fine bovine and country classic artworks. Mohr continues to dairy farm with her family, raising their children and painting the sights of rural America. Each notecard scene has been reproduced from an original oil painting.
10 5"x 6" notecards with envelopes.
Mother's Love – There is nothing so touching or so heartfelt as the expression of a mother's love for her baby, her child. Nothing so profound exists. This Holstein mother cow and her new baby are certainly no exception as they spend precious moments together. A note from the artist: "I spent several hours out in our pasture, one August morning, just following this mother cow and newborn calf around. Keeping my distance, of course, I sat quietly in the meadow grass just enjoying the playfulness of this new baby, and watching her drink milk from her mom for the first time. It's amazing how keen animal instincts are, just moments after they are born. Newborns tire quickly though, and she was soon resting while her mother grazed contentedly."
Attitude is Everything features a Holstein cow who had decided that this is close enough, even if she is getting her portrait done. The artist states: "You know this look! We all have a cow in the herd who defies the rules, leads the pack, and is the one in charge. My husband helped me capture this exact moment out in our cow yard, by standing behind me and dangling a broom over my shoulder. She leaned into us – daring us to come any closer and snorted quickly before running away!"
Living Life features the verse "Living Life" by Bonnie Mohr inside.
The artist says of Farming: "Being raised a farmer's daughter, marrying a farmer, and now having raised our own family on a farm...this is a painting I have longed to create for a long time! It is my life and the lifestyle I respect and love...just as I know it is for the many other men and women who live this authentic, hardworking, heart-loving lifestyle. The verse on this Farming painting is written from my heart – it is what I believe to be true about the American Farmer, and it is a tribute to this hard-working class of people. It is a thank you and a celebration of the 'Force that feeds our world'." Features the verse "Farming" by Bonnie Mohr inside.
